Lab sheet instructions: | Model Procedure |
Set up a pendulum. | A pendulum was set up |
Measure from the support point to the center of the bob. Call this the length of the pendulum. | The length of the pendulum (from the support point to the center of the bob) was measured and recorded. |
Set the pendulum swinging through a small arc. | The pendulum was set swinging through a small arc. |
Record the time for 50 swings. | The time for 50 complete swings was recorded. |
Using the same pendulum bob, but adjusting it for 6 different lengths, record the period and length for each trial. | Six different trial runs were made, each using the same pendulum bob, but a different length. |
Calculate the period (the time for one swing) for each of your trials. Calculate the square of the period for each trial. Draw two graphs, length against period and length against period 2. | The data was recorded. The period of each pendulum was calculated, as was the square of each period. Two graphs were produced: length against period and length against period2. |
