Before attempting these questions, read the textbook pages 474-479.
Your answers should be in the form of complete sentences.

1.

Every electrical circuit needs a battery or other source. Explain the function of the battery. Why is it needed? What does it supply to the circuit?

2.

Charges move in a circuit as long as there is a complete, closed circuit and a difference in potential. Difference in potential is measured in units called volts. A volt is defined as a joule/coulomb. Give the name of the unit of electrical current and how it is defined.

3.

If you were to increase the resistance in a circuit which had a fixed voltage, how would you expect the current in the circuit to change?
